The podcast project, Fresh New Shorts, passes exciting milestones this week.
The White Gorilla is the 5th story in the series, offering new stories weekly. We now have over 100 downloads of the podcast stories. Thanks to everyone for listening!
The Fresh New Shorts project is aimed at providing entertainment while we have more solitary time on our hands. In addition, we want to raise money to help others. All profits from the eBook sales of “A Physicist’s Guide to Love, and other natural phenomena“, the source for the podcasts, will go to local foodbanks. We have raised over $30 now from eBook sales, while providing new stories to listeners/readers on three continents!
This week’s story is a personal favourite. It was shortlisted for the Writers’ Union Short Story contest in the same year that “Like I Was Fire” won as best short story.
The White Gorilla is about a father with unreasonable expectations for a family vacation, a habit of buying out-of-date, cheap guidebooks, and a marriage that has more baggage than the mom, dad, sister and brother checked for their flight to England.
It still makes me laugh, and at the same time, feel sad for the father. As he says to dismiss an anxious zookeeper: “We have tigers in Canada.“
Enjoy the storytelling podcasts and stay safe!
