John Blackmore, Writer
I have been a writer, editor and marketing professional for more than 20 years. As a writer, I have degrees in English and Journalism and worked as a reporter, speech writer and in public relations and advertising.
I have won both the National Short Story and Postcard Story competitions from The Writers’ Union of Canada. I have also been on the Canada-wide long-lists for the CBC short story and creative non-fiction literary competitions. I have edited two technology books and authored a book of short stories: A Physicist’s Guide to Love, and other natural phenomena. Recently, I started a storytelling podcast for new short stories: Fresh New Shorts based on the ebook.
My other current major project is a guiding a mystery novel—The Order of Necessary Darkness—into publication. It features a blind detective who solves crimes using Forensic Sound. Feel free to connect with me on its premise!
Workwise, I am on contract as the VP of Content Marketing for the tech company, GFI Software. This position lets me draw on the writing background, plus my degree in Physics, for data-driven decisions about how we grow our business by telling better, and more connected stories.
